Where It All Began

In the mist-draped highlands of Sabaragamuwa Province, where the Belihuloya valley shimmers with healing energy and Ratnapura's gemstones glow beneath the earth, a transformative tourism vision was born.

Mindora Ceylon represents something entirely new in Sri Lankan tourism — not merely another tour company, but the world's first clinical psychology-informed, medically-supported wellness tourism operation. Our foundation rests on an extraordinary paradox: rigorous academic clinical expertise meeting the warm healing spirit of Sri Lanka's hill country; evidence-based therapeutic design meeting the authentic cultural immersion of Sabaragamuwa Province; medical precision meeting the soul-restoring power of Belihuloya's pristine wilderness.

Founded in 2025 by Mrs. Thanuja Sandamali — an MSc Mental Health Psychologist with five additional clinical certifications and a decade of therapeutic practice — Mindora Ceylon was established with a singular belief: that travel, when truly designed with psychological and medical insight, becomes one of the most powerful healing interventions available to modern individuals overwhelmed by stress, burnout, loneliness, and loss of meaning. Supported by co-founder and Medical Director Dr. A.M.S.Kulasiri (MBBS), this clinical family partnership creates an operational advantage no conventional tour operator can replicate.

The Journey

Our Milestones

From clinical vision to Sri Lanka's most transformative wellness tourism pioneer

Before 2025

A Clinical Career Meets a Tourism Vision

Mrs. Thanuja Sandamali builds a decade-long clinical psychology career, accumulating an MSc in Mental Health Psychology, a BSc in Psychology, a Business Psychology postgraduate qualification, and specialized diplomas in marriage and family counseling, addiction therapy, and forensic psychology. Throughout these years, a growing conviction takes shape: that Sri Lanka's extraordinary healing landscape — the Belihuloya valley, the hill country's temperate climate, the gem heritage of Ratnapura, the Buddhist cultural wisdom — represented an untapped therapeutic environment of global significance that deserved a clinically-designed tourism framework.

Early 2025

Mindora Ceylon Founded

Mindora Ceylon is formally established in Balangoda, Sabaragamuwa Province — Sri Lanka's first psychology-informed, medically-supported wellness tourism operation. The company is co-founded with Dr. A.M.S.Kulasiri (MBBS) as Medical Director, creating a unique clinical family partnership at the heart of the business. SLTDA registration as a Specialized Wellness Tourism Operator is achieved, establishing regulatory compliance and professional credibility from the outset.

2025

Twenty signature tour packages are developed — wellness and mental health retreats, medical tourism programs, elderly care packages, gem heritage experiences, and mindful cultural journeys — targeting Indian, UK, Australian, German, and Middle Eastern markets. A premium accommodation partner network of 40+ properties is established across the Belihuloya-Ella-Ratnapura corridor, including luxury wellness resorts, eco-lodges, heritage bungalows, and boutique gem-house stays. Fifteen specialized wellness guides, 10 professional chauffeurs, and a fleet of 15 purpose-equipped wellness transport vehicles begin operations.

2025

Operational Scale & Market Momentum

Mindora Ceylon reaches the remarkable milestone of 60+ individually crafted itineraries monthly within its first year of operation — an extraordinary achievement reflecting the genuine market need for psychology-informed wellness tourism. Guest satisfaction rates consistently exceed 96% across all markets. The Indian market emerges as the dominant source market at 40%, followed by strong growth from UK wellness seekers, Australian adventure wellness travelers, and German Ayurveda authenticity seekers. International testimonials begin validating the unique clinical tourism model.

The Founding Vision

Two Worlds, One Purpose

The convergence of clinical psychology and medical expertise that makes Mindora Ceylon unique

Clinical Psychology Excellence

Mrs. Thanuja Sandamali — MSc Mental Health Psychology

Psychological expertise translates into itinerary design that genuinely heals. Understanding of burnout, trauma, grief, and relationship stress informs program design that creates real outcomes rather than superficial entertainment. Evidence-based therapeutic approaches applied to travel create transformation unavailable from any conventional tourism operator. Every wellness retreat is a clinically-designed healing intervention.

Medical Family Advantage

Dr. A.M.S.Kulasiri — MBBS, Medical Director & Co-Founder

Direct access to qualified medical oversight for medical tourism coordination, elderly care supervision, palliative care programs, and emergency medical response. Clinical hospital coordination, pre-operative consultations, recuperative accommodation design, and post-procedure wellness recovery — all managed by a doctor who is also a co-founder invested in every guest's wellbeing. This is not outsourced medical support; it is embedded medical family care.

What Sets Us Apart

The Mindora Ceylon Difference

Three clinical pillars no conventional Sri Lankan tour operator can replicate

Psychology-Informed Design

Every itinerary passes through clinical psychological assessment, ensuring therapeutic outcomes rather than superficial sightseeing. Mental health retreats, couples programs, and burnout recovery journeys are designed with clinical precision.

Medical Oversight Standards

All medical tourism and elderly care programs operate under Dr. A.M.S.Kulasiri's continuous clinical supervision — emergency protocols, medication management, hospital transfer arrangements, and family communication procedures available 24/7.

Gem Heritage Exclusivity

60 minutes from Balangoda, Ratnapura offers live mine visits, gemology workshops, and certified sapphire and ruby purchasing — authentic experiences unavailable to mainstream operators operating from Colombo or Kandy.
